Description
Named by the University of Georgia as the “Most Drought Tolerant” English Lavender in their trials, the Annet English Lavender wows with abundant, large clustered spikes of fragrant, deep violet-blue flowers over an exceptionally long period from late spring through early fall. The long-lasting flower spikes stand atop some of the sturdiest stems of any lavender, making them a fine selection for cutting and use in bouquets and floral arrangements. Native beneficial pollinators are attracted to the flowers, while the slightly savory taste of the foliage makes a good substitute for rosemary in culinary dishes. Hardy in USDA Zones 5a to 9a, Annet is excellent for growing in garden beds or containers that can be situated on patios and other outdoor sitting and living spaces where the pretty flowers and fragrance can be enjoyed from close up. Easy to grow in well-drained soil and plenty of sun, Annet is exceptionally drought tolerant when established, and you might be happy to know that the deer, rabbits, and other pests turn their nose up to her. Lavender plants don’t like wet feet, so make sure to choose a well-drained planting site!
Landscape & Garden Uses
Growing 16 to 18 inches tall and wide, Annet Lavender is ideal for use as an accent, in groupings or mass plantings, or as a low border or hedge in landscape and perennial borders and herb gardens. Mass plantings are truly breathtaking. It has also done well for us in container gardens, which can be overwintered indoors above Zone 6a. It is a fine selection for herb gardens, cut flower gardens, perennial gardens, blue theme gardens, cottage gardens, rock gardens, fragrance gardens, and the Xeriscape (low water needs).
Suggested Spacing:Â 16 inches apart for solid groupings or borders; 3 feet apart for space between plants

Growing Preferences
Lavender is easy to grow in a moist to somewhat dry well-drained soil of average to low fertility and plenty of sun. Constantly soggy soil or standing water is problematic. It is exceptionally drought tolerant when established. If desired, the plant can be cut back by one-third of its height after flowering to maintain a fuller plant. For example, if your plant is 18 inches tall, you can cut it back to 12 inches.Â
