Description
This is the single-trunk version of the very rare China Doll Fringetree, which can grow 15 to 25 feet tall with a rounded canopy 20 to 25 feet wide at maturity. This selection features a glorious bloom of profuse rounded clusters of super fragrant, very snow-white flowers in spring, occurring about two weeks earlier than our native fringetrees. In full bloom, this magnificent tree will stop any passerby in their tracks! It also displays attractive light brown exfoliating bark on its trunks and larger branches with age. The 4-inch long, lustrous, leathery, green leaves are ovate to elliptic in shape and turn a pleasing bright yellow in fall. Â
Landscape & Garden Uses
Growing 15 to 25 feet tall and 20 to 25 feet wide, the China Doll Fringe Tree is ideal for use as a focal point specimen in landscape borders or to frame the corners or against large open walls in home foundation plantings. In larger landscape spaces, it can be planted in groupings. It is a fine addition to wildlife gardens, North American native plant gardens, white-theme gardens, Asian-theme gardens, and cottage gardens.
Suggested Spacing:Â 30 feet or more apart for space between trees

Growing Preferences
The China Doll Fringe Tree is very easy to grow in almost any moist but well-drained soil of average to high fertility and full sun to part shade. More sun produces more flowers. It prefers deep, moist, acidic soil, but it will tolerate dry periods when established. Provide an occasional deep soaking during extended drought. Very little, if any, pruning is necessary. Its high tolerance for air pollution makes it a fine selection for urban landscapes.Â
