Description
As with all the varieties in the Fruit Snacks® Columnar Apples family, ‘Golden Treat’ is easy to grow and care for due to its narrow 8 to 10 foot tall and 2 to 3 feet wide columnar form, which makes it an ideal choice for small spaces and containers, and its cold tolerance and reliable disease resistance. As with other apples, you will need to plant two different varieties for pollination and heavy fruit set. Golden Treat features loads of pretty pink buds that open to blush pink flowers that are followed by full-size golden-yellow apples. The fruits are crisp, with a slightly tart taste and a harmonic sugar-acid ratio, which makes them perfect on cheese plates or used in baking for apple cobblers and pies. With a stately upright form, beautiful flowers, fast growth rate, and pretty fruits, Golden Treat is sure to be a captivating conversation piece and, as its name suggests, an edible delight as well.Â
Wildlife Value
The bloom pollen from apple trees is beneficial for bees as a food source in spring.

Landscape & Garden Uses
Growing 8 to 10 feet tall and 2 to 3 feet wide with a columnar form, the Fruit Snacks Golden Treat Columnar Apple is ideal for use as a specimen or in grouping and rows in landscape and woodland borders. Its narrower form makes it perfect for growing in containers that can be situated on or around sunny patios, decks, and other outdoor sitting and living spaces. It is also lovely for espalier (planted and trained to grow flat against a wall), and is a fine addition to bird and wildlife gardens, yellow theme gardens, edible landscapes, and cottage gardens.
Suggested Spacing:Â Â 4 feet for space between trees
Growing Preferences
The Fruit Snacks Golden Treat Columnar Apple grows best in moist, well-drained soil of average fertility and full to mostly sun; six or more hours daily for the heaviest flower and fruit production. Plant a different variety of apple tree for pollination. Established trees are drought-tolerant. Light shade is tolerated, but morning sun is a must.
