Ilarian Pink Variegated Japanese Maple – 3 Gallon Pot

‘Ilarian’ is a fantastic Japanese Maple that showcases unique and spectacular variegated foliage and bark throughout all seasons. New leaves in spring emerge in neon pink shades, transitioning to pink, white, and vibrant green shades as the season progresses. During summer, the palmate leaves with narrow lobes turn a darker green and brighter white, with new leaves emerging pink before turning white. With the arrival of cooler temperatures in fall, the foliage turns to fiery shades of orange, red, and golden yellow. Occasional striped pink bark provides winter interest. With an upright and elegant growth habit reaching maybe 15 feet tall by 8 to 10 feet wide when all grown up, Ilarian is a fine choice as a focal point specimen in small to mid-size garden spaces and containers that can be situated on or around patios and other outdoor living spaces. Easy to grow in a site that provides well-drained soil and shade or partial shade. The best color comes with shade or filtered sun during the afternoon when the sun is most intense.

‘Ilarian’ was discovered as a chance seedling at Buchholz Nursery and named after the staff member there who found it.
