Description
Â
An exciting new hybrid from the Rodney Davey Marbled Group. ‘Illumi Lime’ wows with both flower and foliage color. It has the brightest kiwi-lime blooms we’ve ever seen on a Lenten Rose and the best silver-marbled foliage, which looks unreal. If it were just a foliage plant it would get a spot in our gardens! It features incredibly abundant glowing lime-green saucer-shaped flowers with a crown of contrasting bright stamens occurring from mid winter through early spring. Unlike some varieties, the long-lasting large flowers of this one are outward facing and held atop sturdy stems that make them perfect for cutting and use in floral arrangements and bouquets. Nectar rich, the flowers offer emerging winter bees an essential food source at a time when not much else is blooming in the garden. The flowers stems rise above very attractive leathery, silver to golden-veined, deep green evergreen foliage that is deer and rabbit resistant. Virtually problem-free and exceptionally long-lived and easy to grow, this first class delightful hardy flowering wonder thrives in partially shaded garden beds, even under the canopies of large trees, as well as in containers for situating on patios, porches, decks and around other outdoor sitting and living spaces. Sure to be a conversation piece!
Landscape & Garden Uses
Growing in a clump 15 to 20 inches tall and spreading 2 feet or more, Illumi Lime Helleborus is ideal for use as an accent in smaller spaces and containers or in groupings, massed as a groundcover in landscape and woodland borders, or as a border along walkways and paths. Perfect under large shade trees, decks, covered porches and any other shady location. Don’t think you have any shade? Look on the east side of your home. A fine addition to shade gardens, winter gardens, beneficial pollinator gardens, cottage gardens, cut flower gardens and woodland gardens.
Suggested Spacing:Â 24 inches apart for mass plantings; 36 inches or more apart for space between plants

Growing Preferences
Illumi Lime Helleborus is very easy to grow in most any moist but well-drained soil of average fertility and part shade to shade. Though Helleborus will tolerate mostly sun in cool-summer climates, we think they look and perform their best with part shade to full shade, which makes them perfect for planting under tall decks, large shade trees and other shady areas. Morning and/or evening sun or all-day filtered sun is fine. Direct afternoon sun, especially in USDA Zones 7 to 9, is not suggested. Plant with the top of the root ball even with ground level. Care and maintenance are minimal. Feed in spring with an organic plant food.
