Description
A self-fertile and cold hardy Kiwi vine, ‘Jenny Fuzzy’ has survived temperatures down to zero degrees Fahrenheit, and is heat and humidity hardy down to Zone 9 in central Florida. She produces loads of exotic looking fragrant flowers in spring that are followed in late summer by sweet-tart, fuzzy brown fruits that are lime green on the inside. The fruits have eight times more vitamin C than oranges and contain 20% natural sugar for outstanding sweetness. Lush, tropical looking foliage on vigorous vines that can reach 20 feet in length or height, and containing up to 100 pounds of fruit on a single mature vine, will require support. A sturdy structure with metal posts or 4″ x 4″ wood posts is suggested. If you are looking for an exceptionally attractive and edible vine to grow over a pergola or other overhead structure it doesn’t get much better than the Jenny Kiwi.
Cultural Preferences
Kiwi vines are easy to grow in most any moist but well drained soil, even amended clay and sandy soils. Avoid soils that are persistently wet during the growing season. The best and heaviest quantity of fruit will be produced when vines are growing in full to mostly sun.Â
