Pinus kwangtungensis, commonly called the Kwangtung or Guangdong Pine, is a rare and beautiful coniferous evergreen tree native to the Far East. It is a fast grower with a broad pyramidal form reaching 25 to 30 feet tall and maybe 15 to 20 feet wide in North American landscapes. Its stems are clothed in bundles of bicolor, triangular, slightly curled 2-4″ long needles that are blue on two sides and emerald green on the other. It starts producing cones at a young age that are 2 to 5 inches long and red-brown when mature. Easy to grow, it is an outstanding specimen, grouping, or addition to privacy screen plantings in sunny landscapes and garden beds.
