Midnight Japanese Maple – 3 Gallon Pot (5-6′)

We are very excited to introduce Acer palmatum ‘Midnight’, a new dark and handsome upright Japanese Maple featuring outstanding color, texture, form and adaptability. Midnight features deeply lobed palmate leaves that emerge deep maroon-red in spring slightly transitioning to dark burgundy and maroon shades during summer. With the arrival of cool temperatures in fall the leaves turn vibrant shades of bright red. At our farm here in north Georgia, it has demonstrated exceptionally high tolerance to heat, humidity and full sun, rivaling ‘Hefner’s Red’.  Similar to the Bloodgood Japanese maple in habit and form, Midnight might reach 15 to 20 feet tall and 12 to 15 feet wide when all grown up. Its rarity, good looks and exceptional heat and sun tolerance earns this rare and handsome selection a spot in every Japanese Maple lovers landscape!
