Description
Blooming all season long from spring through fall, ‘Bishop’s Form’ Heron’s Bill is a very cute drought tolerant perennial plant that produces abundant geranium-like, star shaped flowers with candy-pink petals and deep pink veins above a low mound of attractive, fragrant, lobed, blue-green filigreed leaves. Perfectly suited for the xeriscape (low water needs), this one is excellent in sites with dry soils or container gardens. Especially nice around stones and boulders and you might be happy to know it attracts butterflies but the deer in our gardens turn their nose up to it!
Landscape & Garden Uses
Growing 3 to 4 inches tall with a spread of maybe 12 inches, the Pink Heron’s Bill plant is ideal for use as an accent or in groupings in small-space gardens, or as a low border in garden and landscape beds or as a border or grouping aside paths and walkways. A fine addition to rock gardens, xeriscape gardens, pink theme gardens, butterfly gardens, alpine gardens and cottage gardens.
Suggested Spacing:Â 10 to 12 inches apart for mass plantings or solid border
Growing Preferences
Pink Heron’s Bill is low-maintenance and easy to grow in a range of conditions however does prefer a neutral to alkaline very well-drained soil that is on the dry side and full to most sun. If you have acid soil simply apply a generous amount of pelletized limestone to sweeten the soil. We suggest at least 6 hours of direct sunlight per day.
Plant Long & Prosper!
