Description
‘Silky Fleece’ is an irresistible cute little Lambs’ Ear that has the same great soft and silky texture and silver color as other lambs’ ears, just in a smaller package to about 4 to 6 inches tall and wide. The furry leaves are about 3 to 4 inches in length and form a dense carpet. Lilac-plum flower spikes rise above the foliage from mid to late summer on 8 to 10 inch stalks.Â
Landscape & Garden Uses
Growing 4 to 6 inches tall and spreading to 12 inches or more wide, Silky Fleece Lambs Ear is ideal for use as an accent in small garden spaces and containers or in groupings or as a border along paths and walkways in landscape borders and perennial gardens. A fine addition to perennial gardens, cottage gardens and the Xeriscape (low water needs).
Suggested Spacing: 12″ apart for mass planting
Growing Preferences
Silky Fleece Lambs Ear is easy to grow provided it gets plenty of sun and is planted in well-drained soils. It does prefer cooler climates without too much heat and humidity. The flowers can be dried for crafts or removed to maintain uniformity as a groundcover.
