Vanilla Twist Redbud is an extraordinary selection of our Native Redbud tree. A year-round beauty, it forms a gracefully weeping tree with cascading branches that are nearly covered in early spring with clusters of vanilla-white, pea-like flowers. Following the flowers, the charming heart-shaped leaves emerge in chartreuse shades, gradually maturing to rich green. When temperatures cool in fall, the leaves turn shades of yellow. After they drop, the silhouette of weeping branches provides interest throughout the winter. Like other redbuds, Vanilla Twist is a rugged, yet beautiful, tree that’s easy to grow and low-maintenance. It is heat-tolerant and cold-tolerant to -20°F, and adapts to almost any well-drained soil, as well as sun or partial shade.
